Electrosurgical pencils are increasingly being used during surgery because they can efficiently cut and cuterize tissues simultaneously, reducing blood loss. However, these devices emit high concentrations of smoke and other toxic byproducts into the O.R. atmosphere, which can cause serious and unwanted health risks to physicians, healthcare professionals and patients alike.

To avoid this health risk, a disposable suction device has been developed to essentially remove these contaminants from the surgical source -- before being released into the O.R. environment --providing obvious safety and health benefits to patients, physicians and staff. The patent pending device slides over most existing electrosurgical pencils, requires no further training, or additional surgical assistance to operate. The device is versatile and can be used with a variety of electrodes without the use of adapters.

Use of this device in the O.R. is a responsible approach to manage patient and personnel care by reducing exposure to hazardous toxins efficiently and inexpensively. NIOSH/CDC/OSHA and AORN recommends using smoke evacuation devices in the OR when possible to reduce harmful exposure to these airborne byproducts. The device is disposable, available sterile, and sold in boxes of ten each, or ten boxes per case. Call for free samples and a price quote.
